From October 20 - 25 there were 60 - 100 people who paddled in canoes loaned to us by Ridge Wilderness Adventures. We paddled the lower Fraser River from Hope to Vancouver. We made this journey to support Justice Cohen of the sockeye inquiry in calling for full disclosure of all diseases in all salmon feedlots on our Fraser sockeye migration routes. There was an awesome ground crew who made everything work. We were generously hosted by First Nations all the way. We think this much effort was required to break through the secrecy of the Norwegian salmon feedlot industry.
I was deeply moved by this experience. For seven days I was surrounded by the most wonderful people all pulling together to save our communities, our land, our fish. It has restored my hope for humanity. We were peaceful and powerful, we are the wild salmon people. If you want to stay in touch be sure to sign up at www.wildsalmonpeople.ca
I have put the Salmon are sacred T shirts on my website alexandramorton.ca so you can help this movement spread and flourish. As wild salmon go, so we go.
Thank you all,
