Caligus louse damage
There are two predominate species of sea lice on salmon in British Columbia. This is the smaller of the two (Caligus). Government and industry suggest that this species does not damage fish, but at these levels you can see bleeding from under this fish's scales. This louse shows a preference for sockeye smolts. As well this species jumps fish to fish much more than the other species and thus makes it a strong disease vector.
