On May 11, 2014, 60 Minutes examined salmon farming in BC.
On May 22, 2014 NAFTA body calls for investigation into whether Canada is protecting wild salmon from salmon farms in British Columbia.
Then 80 First Nations come together in the WILD SALMON ALLIANCE and state "we have witnessed the devastating impact fish farms have on wild salmon and this is simply unacceptable."
And now Bloomberg the premier financial media in North America just posted three videos raising concern that the product may damage wild salmon, is a risky investment and there are health concerns.
WHY YOU WILL NEVER WANT TO EAT FARM-RAISED SALMON
One of the best restaurants in New York states they would never serve farmed salmon
The second video examines the health risk including mention of the vaccine, antibiotics other chemicals and use of corn and chicken in the feed. They also say the industry may have to get onboard with closed tanks if they want to survive.
IS FARMED SALMON ACTUALLY BAD FOR YOU
The third video is about whether to invest in salmon farming. Very interesting they talk about a specific company that finds they have to turn to ancillary products such as processing the dead fish and waste into a protein product to try to make profit. They note there are risks concerning how the industry is handling disease and transparency and hard to see it as an environmentally positive investment.
